Louis XIV Boulle Dressing Mirror Circa 1710

A rare Louis XIV Dressing Mirror in the manner of Andre Charles Boulle.

Decorated with engraved Brass and brown Tortoiseshell marquetry. The front with it’s original Ormolu mounts depicting plumed ‘Indian heads’. The back elaborately decorated in the manner of Jean Bérain père (1640 – 1711)

This sumptuous Dressing Mirror was undoubtedly made for a Lady at the Court of the Sun King, Louis XIV. A similar though more elaborate example is in the Wallace Collection and similarly a Mirror formerly in the collection of The Duke of Hamilton at Hamilton Palace was sold at Bonhams in 2005.
